Beef Protein – patented HydroBeef™ hydrolysate with up to 93 % protein and no allergens

Beef Protein contains the patented beef protein hydrolysate HydroBeef™, a popular alternative to dairy proteins. It is the only protein ingredient in the formula, allowing the powder to contain up to 93 % protein.

One 30 g scoop provides your body with up to 28 g protein, which supports muscle growth and maintenance. It contains no more than 0,5 g fat and 0,5 g carbohydrates, so protein accounts for 94 % of its energy value. It contains no lactose or milk protein at all, making it an option for anyone avoiding dairy ingredients.

The ingredient was developed by the Danish company Essentia Protein Solutions, and its trademark is licensed by AMPC. This is not an anonymous beef powder, but an ingredient with its own specification and a traceable manufacturer. It comes from sources in the European Union and carries Halal certification. This confirms that both the ingredient and its production comply with Islamic rules on diet, including the prescribed method of animal slaughter and separation from prohibited ingredients throughout processing. Compliance is monitored by an independent certification body.

Does beef protein work as well as whey protein?

A meta-analysis of seven randomised controlled trials compared beef and whey protein in people who also trained while taking them. It found no difference in muscle gain or fat loss between the two sources.1 Compared with a group taking no protein supplement at all, beef protein increased both muscle mass and lower-body strength.1

Whey protein contains more leucine, the amino acid that most strongly stimulates muscle protein synthesis. It therefore works faster in the first few hours after training. After several weeks, however, the difference in results disappears, because what matters is total daily protein intake, not how quickly a single serving acts.1

Where beef protein has the edge

Beef Protein offers four features worth comparing with whey protein.

  • No milk and no lactose. It is not a dairy protein, so it contains not even traces of lactose. Whey concentrate contains 4 to 8 g per 100 g.
  • Higher protein content. Up to 93 % compared with 85 to 90 % in isolate and 70 to 80 % in concentrate.
  • Less fat and sugar. No more than 1,7 g fat and 0,5 g sugars per 100 g, while concentrate typically contains 5 to 8 g of each.
  • Halal certification. Rare among dairy proteins.

Gentle enzymatic breakdown, not acid hydrolysis

Protein can be broken down into shorter peptides in two ways, and the difference between them is crucial.

Acid hydrolysis is cheaper and faster. It uses a strong acid at a high temperature, but some amino acids are destroyed in the process. Tryptophan, for example, is almost completely broken down.

HydroBeef™ undergoes enzymatic hydrolysis. Enzymes break down protein chains in a targeted way at a mild temperature, preserving the amino acids. This can be verified through analysis: tryptophan is present in the amino acid profile, which would not be the case after acid hydrolysis.

This gentle breakdown has practical benefits too. The hydrolysate is soluble in water, so simply shake it in a shaker to create a creamy, lump-free drink. In practice, this means one thing. If you avoid milk, beef protein is a fully fledged alternative, not a compromise.

Where beef protein has the edge
Purity and quality checks for every batch

Every batch is tested by independent laboratories accredited to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025, the international standard for the competence of testing laboratories. Testing covers heavy metal content (lead, cadmium and mercury) using ICP-MS and microbiological purity. Full reports are openly available in the Laboratory Tests section on the product page.

Free from all major allergens

Beef Protein contains none of the 14 major allergens. As well as being milk-free, it contains no soy or gluten, which is unusual for such a concentrated source of protein.

One scoop provides around 115 kcal, almost all of which come from protein. This makes it a good fit for a weight-loss diet without taking up a large share of your daily calorie intake.

Who is Beef Protein suitable for?

1. You avoid milk proteins.
Whether because of lactose or for another reason. Beef Protein contains no milk or lactose, so you can include it even when whey protein is not an option.

2. You do strength training.
In an eight-week study, beef protein combined with strength training increased fat-free mass and reduced fat mass compared with a group taking no protein supplement.2

3. You eat less, perhaps because of GLP-1 products.
One scoop provides up to 28 g of protein in around 115 kcal, helping you maintain your protein intake even with small portions. This also makes it suitable for a routine that includes GLP-1 products.

4. You want to know what you are buying.
A patented ingredient with a traceable manufacturer, documented EU beef origin, Halal certification and laboratory reports for every batch.

5. You care about your bones, not just your muscles.
Protein contributes to the maintenance of normal bones.

    Flavor: chocolate
Horrible—an old, rancid, foul odor reminiscent of lumpy, spoiled diarrhea. And it hasn’t even passed its expiration date. Whoever dares to call this “chocolate” has never tasted real chocolate. I’ve tried other products too—beef protein, and even the one with eggs—but none of them was this disgracefully bad. At least it was expensive: 5000/kg, compared to Nutriversum Whey, which is 3800/kg. I do not recommend it to anyone.

I use it because I can’t have dairy products for some time. At first it was a disaster—lumps and foam. But it just needs a different method. I put 50 g into a jar, then add water—about 3 dl—and mix… let it sit for about 20 minutes, and then, with a bit of stirring, it turns into chocolate pudding. Basically, no shaker—just give it time for it to dissolve. In my opinion, it’s great!

Greetings, I bought this protein because I am lactose intolerant. With its composition (a high protein content), it meets the requirements even for more advanced athletes. A big plus for me is its low content of creatine and carbohydrates. As for solubility, I would only say that it is a protein with very good dissolving properties—after half a minute of shaking, it was nicely dissolved without any sediment at the bottom of the bottle. In terms of taste, this protein is also an attractive choice; I use only chocolate—I do not have firsthand information about the other flavours. I would only deduct a tiny point for the foaming, which might bother those who want it perfectly smooth and “top-level” bodybuilders. But if you are patient, after 2–3 minutes the foam will undoubtedly settle. (Dosage as on the label.) Overall, I rate this protein highly, provided that you do not take into account factors that in no way affect your performance (foaming). If you care about taste, you should go for this protein. I ordered it in a vanilla flavor. In terms of value for money, the quality is excellent, but the flavor still needs improvement in every possible way; unfortunately, it is undrinkable. I consume it mixed into pancakes.

A very sweet taste—lots of sucralose, poor solubility, lots of foam, but a good protein content.

I know that protein isn’t about taste and I never judge it by that, but this one is truly impossible to drink.

I purchased this product with a vanilla flavor, but that is not the point that it foams—the lid almost fell apart (600 ml). The smell is because it cannot be called a fragrance; it is similar to fish food. In taste, it is like when you boil a deer’s skull—at least that is what it makes me think of. I ate it once too, and that also almost came back up. DON’T BUY THIS CRAP!!!

Taste is excellent, solubility is as well. The foam settles after a while—don’t be afraid :). I handle it like this: I prepare my protein before the workout, and after the workout I’ve already got all the foam out, so I can happily drink pure protein.

The product’s taste is quite good when mixed with water, and very good when mixed with milk. The solubility is very poor in any cold liquids. I add the powder to hot water, and then put the resulting drink in the refrigerator.
