Beef Protein – patented HydroBeef™ hydrolysate with up to 93% protein and no allergens

Beef Protein contains the patented hydrolyzed beef protein HydroBeef™, a popular alternative to milk-based proteins. It is the only protein ingredient in the formula, allowing the powder to contain up to 93% protein.

One 30 g scoop provides your body with up to 28 g of protein, which supports the growth and maintenance of muscle mass. It contains no more than 0.5 g of fat and 0.5 g of carbohydrates, so protein accounts for 94% of its energy value. It contains no lactose or milk protein, making it suitable for anyone avoiding dairy ingredients.

The ingredient was developed by the Danish company Essentia Protein Solutions, and its trademark is licensed by AMPC. It is therefore not an anonymous beef powder, but an ingredient with its own specification and an identifiable manufacturer. It comes from sources in the European Union and holds Halal certification. This confirms that the ingredient and its production comply with Islamic dietary rules, including the prescribed method of animal slaughter and separation from prohibited ingredients throughout processing. Compliance is monitored by an independent certification authority.

Does beef protein work the same way as whey protein?

A meta-analysis of seven randomized controlled trials compared beef protein with whey protein in people who were also training. It found no difference between the two sources in muscle gain or fat loss.1 Compared with a group that consumed no protein supplement, beef protein increased muscle mass and lower-body strength.1

Whey contains more leucine, the amino acid that most strongly stimulates muscle protein synthesis. It therefore acts faster in the first few hours after training. After several weeks, however, the difference disappears because total daily protein intake matters more than the speed of absorption of a single serving.1

What are the advantages of beef protein?

Beef Protein offers four things that whey protein cannot.

  • No milk and no lactose. It is not a milk protein, so it contains no lactose, even in trace amounts. Whey protein concentrate contains 4 to 8 g per 100 g.
  • Higher protein content. Up to 93%, compared with 85 to 90% for whey protein isolate and 70 to 80% for concentrate.
  • Less fat and sugar. No more than 1.7 g of fat and 0.5 g of sugar per 100 g, while concentrate typically contains 5 to 8 g of each.
  • Halal certification. Uncommon for milk proteins.

Gentle enzymatic hydrolysis, not acid hydrolysis

Protein can be broken down into shorter peptides in two ways, and the difference between them is significant.

Acid hydrolysis is cheaper and faster. It uses a strong acid at a high temperature, but some amino acids are destroyed in the process. For example, tryptophan is almost completely broken down.

HydroBeef™ undergoes enzymatic hydrolysis. Enzymes break down protein chains in a targeted way at a moderate temperature, preserving the amino acids. This can be verified in the analysis: tryptophan is present in the amino acid profile, which would not be the case after acid hydrolysis.

This gentle process has a practical benefit, too. The hydrolysate is water-soluble, so you can simply shake it in a shaker to make a creamy, lump-free drink. The conclusion is simple: if you avoid milk, beef protein is a full-fledged alternative, not a compromise.

What are the advantages of beef protein?
Purity and quality control for every batch

Every batch is tested by independent laboratories accredited to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025, the international standard for the competence of testing laboratories. Tests cover heavy metal content (lead, cadmium and mercury) using the ICP-MS method, as well as microbiological purity. Full test reports are available in the Laboratory Tests section directly on the product page.

Free from all major allergens

Beef Protein contains none of the 14 major allergens. It is free from milk, soy and gluten—exceptional for such a concentrated source of protein.

One scoop contains approximately 115 kcal, almost all of which come from protein. This makes it suitable for a weight-loss diet without taking up a large portion of your daily calorie allowance.

Who is Beef Protein suitable for?

1. You avoid milk proteins.
Whether because of lactose or for another reason, Beef Protein contains neither milk nor lactose, so you can include it in your diet even when whey is not an option.

2. You do strength training.
In an eight-week study, beef protein combined with strength training increased lean body mass and reduced fat mass compared with a group that did not receive protein.2

3. You eat less, perhaps because you use GLP-1 products.
One scoop provides up to 28 g of protein in approximately 115 kcal, helping you maintain your protein intake even with smaller portions. It is therefore also suitable for a regimen that includes GLP-1 products.

4. You want to know what you are buying.
A patented ingredient from an identifiable manufacturer, documented EU origin of the beef, Halal certification, and laboratory reports for every batch.

5. You care about your bones, not just your muscles.
Protein contributes to the maintenance of normal bones.

I tried several types of beef protein, since I cannot consume whey. For me, it is unbeatable in terms of taste, texture, quality, and value for money!

Great, but you need to get used to the taste of chocolate and cracklings; the first few times it even slightly put me off due to the beef aftertaste in the chocolate. Quite filling. I recommend it.

I was quite skeptical regarding the beef protein, especially since everywhere it says that it is very hard to dissolve—generally, not just the one from GymBeam. Fortunately, I read another customer’s review explaining how they dissolve the powder in hot water, and then let it cool. Absolutely genius! (Thank you for this, by the way.) Indeed, it requires a bit of organization. However, personally, I prepare my shake with 100–150 ml of hot water in the morning—enough for it to dissolve completely in no more than 1 minute. Then I add cold water until the shaker is full, and put it in the fridge. By evening, when I get back from the gym, it’s completely cooled and absolutely delicious. It just needs a little homogenizing, but not too vigorously, because it makes foam. Also, when it’s cold, the smell and taste of beef aren’t as strong as other customers mentioned (personally, I find the taste that stays after whey protein much more disgusting). For those who want to consume it in the morning, I imagine it can be prepared the evening before. BIG ATTENTION WHEN IT’S HOT AND YOU SHAKE IT, BECAUSE IT CREATES HIGH PRESSURE IN THE SHAKER!!! Open the lid every 1–2 shakes, until it “calms down”. For those who are lactose intolerant or for anyone on diets based on animal products who can’t manage to reach their protein intake, I think this is a very good option.

Very good taste and a protein/100g ratio. It’s worth the last € as well despite the increases that have been made everywhere. Only 4 stars because the solubility isn’t quite as good. Maybe because I tried it with milk. In general, it makes sense that beef protein doesn’t have the same solubility as milk.

+ for the high protein content %. - for solubility, a lot of foam is produced no matter the preparation format (shaker, mixer)

I haven’t tried it with protein like this yet; its absorption and protein content stand out clearly from other proteins. But in a shaker it doesn’t dissolve—what you get is a watery, stringy mixture with a rubbery taste; its brown color only vaguely resembles chocolate. Compared to this, Puregold is light-years apart in terms of taste—heavenly—and 10 times better than this drink.

Mixed up: First, mix with warm water only by about 1/2 dl to form a thick paste, and then continue diluting and leave it to stand for a few minutes. This way it doesn’t turn clumpy and foamy like the other reviews said. Taste: It tastes as if one were drinking a mid-range instant latte.

That’s why I wrote that it’s drinkable—because I bought it in chocolate. It dissolves with difficulty, but it tastes great.

I bought several of them when the price had not yet increased. Back then, I considered it the best in terms of value for money. The taste is very good; for me, the vanilla one did not dissolve properly in a shaker, and it foamed excessively. After that, I mixed it in a blender and regularly added frozen raspberries or strawberries to the vanilla. It is extremely delicious and a very pleasant post-workout combination for me.
