Beef Protein – patented HydroBeef™ hydrolysate with up to 93% protein and no allergens

Beef Protein contains the patented hydrolyzed beef protein HydroBeef™, a popular alternative to milk-based proteins. It is the only protein ingredient in the formula, allowing the powder to contain up to 93% protein.

One 30 g scoop provides your body with up to 28 g of protein, which supports the growth and maintenance of muscle mass. It contains no more than 0.5 g of fat and 0.5 g of carbohydrates, so protein accounts for 94% of its energy value. It contains no lactose or milk protein, making it suitable for anyone avoiding dairy ingredients.

The ingredient was developed by the Danish company Essentia Protein Solutions, and its trademark is licensed by AMPC. It is therefore not an anonymous beef powder, but an ingredient with its own specification and an identifiable manufacturer. It comes from sources in the European Union and holds Halal certification. This confirms that the ingredient and its production comply with Islamic dietary rules, including the prescribed method of animal slaughter and separation from prohibited ingredients throughout processing. Compliance is monitored by an independent certification authority.

Does beef protein work the same way as whey protein?

A meta-analysis of seven randomized controlled trials compared beef protein with whey protein in people who were also training. It found no difference between the two sources in muscle gain or fat loss.1 Compared with a group that consumed no protein supplement, beef protein increased muscle mass and lower-body strength.1

Whey contains more leucine, the amino acid that most strongly stimulates muscle protein synthesis. It therefore acts faster in the first few hours after training. After several weeks, however, the difference disappears because total daily protein intake matters more than the speed of absorption of a single serving.1

What are the advantages of beef protein?

Beef Protein offers four things that whey protein cannot.

  • No milk and no lactose. It is not a milk protein, so it contains no lactose, even in trace amounts. Whey protein concentrate contains 4 to 8 g per 100 g.
  • Higher protein content. Up to 93%, compared with 85 to 90% for whey protein isolate and 70 to 80% for concentrate.
  • Less fat and sugar. No more than 1.7 g of fat and 0.5 g of sugar per 100 g, while concentrate typically contains 5 to 8 g of each.
  • Halal certification. Uncommon for milk proteins.

Gentle enzymatic hydrolysis, not acid hydrolysis

Protein can be broken down into shorter peptides in two ways, and the difference between them is significant.

Acid hydrolysis is cheaper and faster. It uses a strong acid at a high temperature, but some amino acids are destroyed in the process. For example, tryptophan is almost completely broken down.

HydroBeef™ undergoes enzymatic hydrolysis. Enzymes break down protein chains in a targeted way at a moderate temperature, preserving the amino acids. This can be verified in the analysis: tryptophan is present in the amino acid profile, which would not be the case after acid hydrolysis.

This gentle process has a practical benefit, too. The hydrolysate is water-soluble, so you can simply shake it in a shaker to make a creamy, lump-free drink. The conclusion is simple: if you avoid milk, beef protein is a full-fledged alternative, not a compromise.

What are the advantages of beef protein?
Purity and quality control for every batch

Every batch is tested by independent laboratories accredited to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025, the international standard for the competence of testing laboratories. Tests cover heavy metal content (lead, cadmium and mercury) using the ICP-MS method, as well as microbiological purity. Full test reports are available in the Laboratory Tests section directly on the product page.

Free from all major allergens

Beef Protein contains none of the 14 major allergens. It is free from milk, soy and gluten—exceptional for such a concentrated source of protein.

One scoop contains approximately 115 kcal, almost all of which come from protein. This makes it suitable for a weight-loss diet without taking up a large portion of your daily calorie allowance.

Who is Beef Protein suitable for?

1. You avoid milk proteins.
Whether because of lactose or for another reason, Beef Protein contains neither milk nor lactose, so you can include it in your diet even when whey is not an option.

2. You do strength training.
In an eight-week study, beef protein combined with strength training increased lean body mass and reduced fat mass compared with a group that did not receive protein.2

3. You eat less, perhaps because you use GLP-1 products.
One scoop provides up to 28 g of protein in approximately 115 kcal, helping you maintain your protein intake even with smaller portions. It is therefore also suitable for a regimen that includes GLP-1 products.

4. You want to know what you are buying.
A patented ingredient from an identifiable manufacturer, documented EU origin of the beef, Halal certification, and laboratory reports for every batch.

5. You care about your bones, not just your muscles.
Protein contributes to the maintenance of normal bones.

I bought both flavors as an alternative to the Amix Monster Beef, but you cannot compare them. This protein is glue—otherwise, I wouldn’t call it that. The vanilla flavor is quite good; the chocolate

    Flavor: chocolate
Terrible, poor dissolution, it foams. If it comes into contact with water and it smells bad, I am not sure it is suitable for human consumption.

    Flavor: salted caramel
It really foams, it really leaves a bit of a lumpy residue. However, it is by no means undrinkable—there is nothing wrong with it. The flavor of salted caramel scores 3 out of 5. A very good alternative if you want to avoid dairy products, but if you still want to stick with animal-based protein.

    Flavor: salted caramel
I bought one with a salty caramel flavor. Awful. It foams like soap, everything gets sticky, and on top of that it’s lumpy even though I shake it in the shaker. I can hardly wait for it to run out, and then I’ll switch to something more normal. The taste is pretty artificial, and I’m not even picky....

    Flavor: chocolate
I don’t know what you’re saying, but honestly it’s my favorite protein in terms of taste, as it has a thick, creamy, foamy flavor that reminds me of a milkshake or cream due to the gelatin and collagen. I hope it becomes available again.

    Flavor: vanilla
The vanilla flavor really hit the spot for me; I haven’t had the chance to try the other flavors yet. I don’t have a great deal of experience, but maybe the protein connoisseurs can taste which protein the flavored powder is made from. Still, I didn’t notice any unpleasant flavors. However, I didn’t even try shaking it in a shaker, because it clumps so much. The blender handles it better, but you still need to help a bit, because the parts that stick to the sides don’t come back down on their own. I’m lactose intolerant and it doesn’t cause any problems. That was the most important aspect for me (and also that it doesn’t contain soy, unlike the competitor’s beef protein). I’m satisfied with it. I use a blender anyway, so the difficulty in dissolving doesn’t bother me that much. I plan to buy it again and try it with other flavor variations as well.

    Flavor: chocolate, vanilla, salted caramel
This is already the third time I have ordered this type of protein. The vanilla and chocolate base flavors are not so much for me as the salted caramel flavor—really, I love it. It dissolves easily (I pour the powder into cool water); no lumps remain, and it tastes great! If it’s still in stock, I will definitely order another one just to have a spare!

Honestly, I don't really understand all these bad reviews: "it can't be mixed properly" -> please don't try it with a spoon; instead, get a shaker and shake it well together. "Bad taste and smell" -> you bought beef protein; what did you expect? (For me, this is the most drinkable protein so far, because at least it isn't loaded with sugar, and it doesn't taste nasty while I'm drinking it.) In my opinion, overall this stuff is pretty awesome.

    Flavor: chocolate
As I was calm, I ordered chocolate. Many reviews mentioned a bad taste. However, it isn’t that bad, considering at least the minimal amount of carbohydrates and sugar, while also having a high proportion of protein. Either you want a treat with a high sugar content, or you want quality at the expense of a slightly worse taste. If we are talking about health, I choose to minimize sugar.

Because of the negative reviews, I was a bit concerned, but for me it was an absolutely positive surprise. I ordered it in salted caramel flavor and everything was fine. It really dissolved well, and the taste was great too. I recommend it.

    Flavor: chocolate
Shake one serving in a shaker with 250 ml of water, let it sit for 2–3 minutes to settle (yes, it really gets very foamy, but then it settles nicely), and it’s already ready to go into your system. The chocolate taste is absolutely fine, but the smell is questionable. :D No matter how you mix it with milk—stir it, shake it, do whatever you want—it's guaranteed not to dissolve and you’ll end up with a lumpy mess.
