Protein Fusion is a multi-source protein, which combines 4 high-quality dairy protein sources with different absorption rates. Fast action comes from whey hydrolysate, isolate and concentrate, while a longer-lasting supply of amino acids is provided by the slower-digesting calcium caseinate. This supplies the body with amino acids both immediately after consumption and gradually over the next several hours. The protein is also enriched with the DigeZyme® enzyme complex and the LactoSpore® bacterial strain. The result is a comprehensive protein blend, ideal not only immediately after a workout, but also between meals or added to food.

Protein Fusion is a multi-source protein with 4 protein sources, DigeZyme® enzymes and the LactoSpore® bacterial culture

Not all proteins are absorbed at the same rate, and that is important to know. Protein Fusion by GymBeam deliberately combines fast- and slower-digesting protein sources, supplying your muscles with amino acids both immediately after physical activity and for a further 4 hours. At its core is a carefully selected blend of 4 dairy proteins with high biological value, which make up 87–95 % of the entire formula, depending on the flavour. You will not find any cheap soy or other plant protein in it. We have also enriched it with the DigeZyme® enzyme complex and the bacterial culture Bacillus coagulans LactoSpore®. The result is more than just another ordinary protein: it is a thoughtfully formulated partner for your sports and fitness goals, whatever they may be.

Protein Fusion contains 74–77 g of protein per 100 g of product, depending on the flavour you choose. One 30g serving therefore provides 22,2–23,1 g of protein, 5,2 g of BCAA, including 2,4 g of leucine.

Why does Protein Fusion contain 4 protein sources?

Whey protein on its own, whether a concentrate, isolate or even a hydrolysate, raises blood amino acid levels rapidly and sharply, but only for a relatively short period of 1–3 hours, depending on how it is processed. However, when you combine it with casein in the right way, the supply of amino acids to your tissues is significantly extended to as long as 4 hours. And that is exactly the point. That is why we have combined 4 carefully selected milk proteins in one product. Here is the result:

  1. Whey protein hydrolysate (WPH): The fastest start to protein synthesis

This is a special type of whey protein that enzymes deliberately break down during production into short peptide chains of amino acids. As a result, it is absorbed extremely quickly, making amino acids available in the blood almost immediately. It was a clear choice here, as it provides an ideal stimulus to kick-start muscle protein synthesis.

  2. Whey protein isolate (WPI): Pure, fast-absorbing whey protein without compromise

During production, it undergoes several types of filtration (microfiltration and ultrafiltration), which remove most of the milk fat and lactose. There is nothing wrong with either, but removing them results in a very pure, fast-absorbing protein source with an excellent amino acid profile rich in branched-chain amino acids (BCAA), including the essential amino acid leucine.

  3. Whey protein concentrate (WPC): A reliable choice

This makes up the largest proportion of Protein Fusion. It is produced using the gentle CFM method (cross-flow microfiltration), in which microfiltration takes place at low temperatures. This allows it to retain naturally occurring bioactive proteins, such as beta-lactoglobulin, alpha-lactalbumin and immunoglobulins. WPC is still classed as a fast-absorbing protein source and stands out among whey proteins for its pleasantly milky taste and creamy texture.

  4. Calcium caseinate: The fourth member of the team for slow, gradual release

Casein is the other main protein in cow's milk, accounting for roughly 80 % of all milk proteins. For this blend, we chose calcium caseinate, a form that dissolves well without forming lumps. It is digested significantly more slowly than whey protein, making it the slowest-digesting fraction in the blend. It releases amino acids gradually, long after the whey protein has done its job. It acts as an anti-catabolic guardian for your muscles, particularly useful during longer gaps between meals.

As an added bonus, enriched with DigeZyme® enzymes and the Bacillus coagulans LactoSpore® bacterial culture

DigeZyme® is a patented multi-enzyme complex from Sabinsa. It contains 5 enzymes involved in digesting the main components of food.

  • alpha-amylase, which breaks down carbohydrates in the form of starches
  • protease, which breaks down proteins
  • lactase, which breaks down the milk sugar lactose
  • lipase, which breaks down fats
  • cellulase, which breaks down fibre in the form of cellulose

One serving (30 g) of the protein contains 80 mg of the DigeZyme® enzyme complex.

LactoSpore® is a patented ingredient from Sabinsa containing the bacterium Bacillus coagulans MTCC 5856 (now classified as Heyndrickxia coagulans). The bacteria are present in spore form, which significantly increases their viability and stability in the product.

One serving (30 g) contains 1 billion CFU (colony-forming units).

Why can a protein blend be better than a single-source protein?

Drinking whey protein on its own quickly raises blood amino acid levels, but they then quickly return to baseline. This is great immediately after a workout, but a few hours later, the stimulation of muscle protein synthesis is significantly weaker.

Protein Fusion works differently. It combines fast- and slow-digesting proteins, so amino acids are released into the blood gradually. This keeps them at a level capable of stimulating muscle protein synthesis for longer. The result?

  • An immediate anabolic stimulus: Whey protein hydrolysate and isolate kick-start muscle protein synthesis almost immediately.
  • A strong middle phase: As the largest component of the blend, whey protein concentrate maintains a steady supply of amino acids.
  • Longer anti-catabolic protection: Calcium caseinate takes over from whey protein concentrate, continuing to maintain elevated blood amino acid levels.

A similar principle was also confirmed by studies by Reidy (2013)1 and Kanda (2016)2. The Reidy (2013)1 study compared whey protein alone with a blend of proteins with different absorption rates (whey, casein and soy). The blend was able to maintain elevated blood amino acid levels for longer and supported muscle protein synthesis at least as effectively as whey protein alone.

Why can a protein blend be better than a single-source protein?

Who is Protein Fusion suitable for?

1. Strength athletes and gym-goers who want to maximise muscle hypertrophy and give their body the best after training and between main meals. Muscles cannot grow without protein. To achieve this goal, scientific studies recommend a daily intake of 1,6–2,2 g of protein per kilogram of body weight.3

2. Athletes with demanding training or competition schedules, whether in CrossFit and HYROX, team sports such as hockey and football, or endurance sports such as cycling and running. With a high training volume and frequency, adequate protein intake is key to protecting muscles and supporting their recovery. Athletes are generally advised to consume 1,2–2,0 g of protein per kilogram of body weight.4 Physical activity also places demands on the musculoskeletal system. It is therefore good to know that protein contributes to the maintenance of normal bones.5

3. People following a weight-loss diet or taking GLP-1 medications. A weight-loss diet carries a risk of reduced intake of a range of essential nutrients, including protein. A reduced energy intake can lead to muscle loss, and one way to help prevent this is to increase your intake of high-quality protein. Protein also contributes to the growth and maintenance of muscle mass.5

4. People aged 65+. So-called anabolic resistance increases with age, and the body generally becomes less efficient at using dietary protein to repair muscles. A high-quality protein blend is therefore an ideal choice for older athletes and active seniors who want to build and maintain muscle mass. According to the latest studies, they need at least 1,0–1,2 g of protein per kilogram of body weight6, which is significantly more than the standard adult recommendation of 0,83 g of protein per kilogram of body weight.7

5. Women aiming for a firmer physique. Protein certainly will not make you look bulky or masculine. Instead, it gives your body important building blocks for a firm, toned physique. By promoting satiety, it also helps you manage sweet cravings more effectively.

6. Anyone looking for a convenient way to meet their daily protein needs. Enjoy it as a tasty shake with water or milk, or add it to porridge, smoothies or pancake batter. These are typically carbohydrate-based foods without much protein, so adding protein makes them more complete and balanced, while also providing an easy way to increase your protein intake.

Composition and dosage

Dosage

Mix 1 scoop (30 g) with 250 ml of water. Take 1–2 times daily, depending on your total protein intake needs.

After training.

Fast-digesting whey proteins kick-start muscle growth and recovery immediately, while slower-digesting caseinate sustains muscle protein synthesis for longer. What does this mean in practice? There is no need to stress or rush to eat your next meal straight after training.

Between meals. The combination of fast- and slower-digesting proteins maintains a steady supply of amino acids, even during longer gaps between meals. This makes it useful both when cutting and when building muscle mass.

Before bed. Slower-digesting caseinate is beneficial during the longer period without food while you sleep.

As a protein boost for meals. You can add the protein powder to porridge, pancakes, smoothies, yoghurt or dough for homemade baked goods. Let your imagination run wild.

This protein has a really rich taste like ice cream. I just mixed 1 serving of the product with 1 glass of milk and really enjoyed it. In my opinion, this one can be a substitute for standard yogurt

I ordered it based on a good experience with the vanilla flavor of Just Whey, which tastes genuinely pleasant. This protein, however, is its exact opposite. Just the smell alone makes your stomach
