Dried Irish Sea Moss - a unique plant-based alternative to gelatin or collagen, which is used in the kitchen as a thickener and stabilizer

Dried Irish Sea Moss is a species of red algae (Chondrus crispus), which stands out especially for its potential use in the kitchen and cosmetics. It grows mainly on the rocky coasts of the Atlantic Ocean and, as the name suggests, is most widely gathered in the Irish region. Due to its properties, it is often referred to as a plant-based alternative to gelatin or collagen.

It is important to rinse Irish moss thoroughly before use. This will remove the salt and leave a neutral taste. After soaking and mixing in water, it forms a gel which serves as a thickening agent and stabilizer. In the kitchen, it can be used in the preparation of sweet and savoury dishes. It gives them a thicker, more uniform (homogeneous) and smoother texture. It is suitable for making homemade cheese, yoghurt, cream, ice cream, candies, cheesecakes, no-bake cakes, fruit cakes with gelatin and raw desserts. Furthermore, it is also great for thickening spreads, sauces or soups. It can be even used to substitute eggs in recipes as it has great binding power.

Dried Irish Sea Moss is not only a great kitchen helper, but it is also popular in cosmetics. Thanks to its ability to retain water, it is added to moisturizing soaps, creams, face masks and shampoos. It is therefore a versatile product that can be used in every household. It has a 100% plant-based composition, making it suitable for vegetarians and vegans.Dried Irish Sea Moss - GymBeam

It was terribly salty, so unfortunately I could not use it for the intended purpose.

High-quality moss without a lot of debris from salt and various other algae.. It requires proper 3-day preparation so that it can be consumed properly, and once it turns into gel, just 2 tablespoons are enough for you to benefit from all of its benefits... A great ally for the intestinal microbiome as well as overall health, since it contains 90 minerals...

I was really afraid of the product because of the taste and the preparation. In any case, it can probably be made easy enough to improve until it doesn’t make you feel nauseous; the preparation is straightforward. As for the effects, I’m now fine and I don’t have any digestive problems anymore, my skin is clearer, and I have more energy.

It doesn’t mix nicely even though it’s been soaked. It’s still fine for adding minerals.

Now I’ll crunch it even itself after soaking. But before I got used to it, I made a gel out of it, poured it into molds, and made gelatin candies. I even managed to trick the kids with it, so we all eat it. It’s a very good alternative when you don’t want to eat pig’s feet.

It has proven very effective in the kitchen and helped me with a bad knee after overexertion from running. It goes well in salads and is best in smoothies. ;)

You should get it with a smoothie and protein. The taste of seaweed fades into the background—I’d say it’s a great idea.
