The elasticity and strength of tissues depend on two proteins: collagen and elastin. Collagen gives tissues strength, while elastin gives them elasticity—the ability to return to their original shape after being stretched. Together, they form the supporting tissue of the skin, tendons and ligaments.^3,4

Each capsule contains 200 mg of marine-derived elastin peptides and 160 mg of vitamin C in the form of L-ascorbic acid. Vitamin C does more than simply complement the formula: it contributes to normal collagen formation for the normal function of the skin, bones, cartilage, gums and teeth, and blood vessels.¹ It also contributes to the protection of cells from oxidative stress, the normal function of the immune and nervous systems, normal psychological function and the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.¹

In its original form, elastin is a highly stable and poorly soluble protein. This property is precisely what makes it so resilient in the body.

Through hydrolysis (breaking it down into shorter peptide chains), the protein is processed into a form that the body can absorb much more easily. This is why dietary supplements are almost always labelled “elastin peptide” rather than elastin in its original, unmodified form.

The capsule form also addresses the practical side. The capsule can simply be swallowed with water, without any need for mixing or flavouring.

Elastin peptide itself has little noticeable taste or texture, which could be more difficult to manage in another form (such as a powder).
