Parsley Extract 4:1 – A Traditional Herb in a Concentrated, Simple Form

Parsley Extract is a dietary supplement with a single active ingredient: a concentrated extract of garden parsley leaves (Petroselinum crispum). You may know parsley from the kitchen, but it has also been used as a traditional herb around the world for thousands of years. We have put it into precisely dosed capsules, with no need to prepare tea or infusions or measure out parsley leaves.

The daily dose of two capsules contains 1,500 mg of 4:1 extract. A 4:1 extract means that 4 kg of dried leaves yield 1 kg of extract, so one dose corresponds to approximately 6 g of dried parsley leaves. You would not normally eat that much parsley in a meal.

The formula is vegan, from the capsule to the last ingredient, and contains no caffeine or other stimulants. It is intended for adults who want to add a plant-based dietary supplement with a simple composition to their diet. The capsule form makes it easy to measure and take.

What do tradition and research say about parsley?
Traditional use in fluid metabolism

Parsley has long been associated with fluid balance in the body in traditional herbalism. This topic is also the subject of research examining how its natural compounds act in the body.⁸ ⁹

Parsley and digestion

Parsley is traditionally added to hearty dishes and is associated with digestion in traditional herbalism. Its distinctive aroma and flavour come from the essential oil compounds apiol and myristicin.⁹

Apigenin in Research

Parsley contains the flavonoid apigenin, one of the most extensively studied plant flavonoids.¹⁰ Researchers study it in various areas, from its antioxidant potential to its role in hormonal balance. However, the research so far consists mainly of laboratory studies, not studies of the supplement’s effects in humans.

Antioxidants

Parsley leaves naturally contain vitamin C, carotenoids and flavonoids, which are substances with antioxidant properties.¹ ⁹

Vitamins and minerals

Parsley leaves naturally contain vitamins (e.g. C and K) and minerals such as calcium, iron and potassium.⁹ ¹¹

What ingredients are in the capsule?
Parsley Leaf Extract 4:1 – 1,500 mg

Garden parsley is one of the longest-used herbs in the world, and these capsules contain a concentrated extract of its leaves. The 4:1 ratio means that 4 kg of dried leaves were used to produce 1 kg of extract, making it more concentrated than ordinary dried parsley powder. One daily serving of two capsules contains 1,500 mg of extract, equivalent to approximately 6 g of dried parsley leaves.

The flavonoids apigenin and apiin

Apigenin and apiin are flavonoids, naturally occurring plant compounds characteristic of parsley. Apiin is a glycoside of apigenin, meaning it is apigenin with an attached sugar molecule. Parsley is a well-known dietary source of these compounds.

Essential oils

Essential oils give parsley its characteristic aroma and flavour and are a natural component of its leaves.

Other plant-based substances

In addition to flavonoids and essential oils, parsley leaves also contain other naturally occurring plant compounds, such as phenolic acids. We do not declare them individually in the extract.

Plant-based capsule

The capsule shell is made of hypromellose, a plant-derived cellulose. This makes the product suitable for vegans, as it contains no gelatin.

Why should you choose the capsule form?

The form is not a minor detail. It determines whether you actually take the product.

The first reason is dosage. To obtain the equivalent of 1,500 mg of a 4:1 extract, you would need to eat approximately 6 g of fresh parsley leaves or drink several cups of strong decoction each day. Two capsules provide two equal portions of the daily dose, with no guesswork.

The second reason is taste and preparation. A strong parsley decoction is bitter and takes a long time to prepare. With capsules, you do not taste it at all.

The third reason is convenience. Capsules require neither a shaker nor refrigeration, fit in your pocket, and are suitable for the office and for travel.

Our product is also independently tested by a third party for heavy metals and microbiological contamination. Such testing is particularly informative for plant extracts. Plants absorb substances from the soil in which they grow, so with this ingredient, it is worth knowing who tested it.

Who is parsley extract suitable for?
  • People who prefer herbal products. You know parsley from the kitchen; here it is in concentrated form.
  • Those who do not have time to prepare teas and herbal infusions. No brewing or bitter taste. Simply take the capsules with water, even when you are on the go.
  • Active people and athletes. A simple plant-based supplement to a balanced diet.
  • Vegans and vegetarians. A plant-based capsule, free from gluten, lactose and GMOs.
  • Those who want a simple, transparent formulation. Extract, a plant-based capsule and minimal additional ingredients.
